Robert Scoble has a nice video blog post about Microsoft’s Photosynth (which unfortunately does not run on my browser though) in which he let’s Gary Flake demonstrate it. Very cool stuff.
What I directly imagined though was that this would be nice to have in Second Life or any other virtual world. Watch the demo around the middle and you can see a presentation of an artists workroom. Now if we think of a virtual museum (what he mentioned, too) I’d think of walking e.g. around in a museum in Second Life where I am able to zoom into the photos just as they do. A merge of these technologies (plus a more open approach to it) would be very cool IMHO as Photosynth alone is quite cool but it probably won’t have that immersive feeling as SL can have if done properly.
